Use the formula for the area of a triangle to find the answer.
The triangle has an area of 84 cm2.
Notice that the area of plane figures is always expressed in square units of measurement such as ft 2, cm 2, yd 2, and mi 2. Itâs essential to write the exponent next to the unit of measure.
Circumference and Area of a Circle
Polygons have sides that are straight lines, but a circle does not. Instead, a circle is the set of all points in a plane that are the same distance from a given point called the center. The distance around a circle is called the circumference (C).
The diameter (d) of a circle is a line segment that passes through its center and has both endpoints on the circle. The radius (r) is a line segment that has one endpoint at the center of a circle and the second endpoint on the circle. The radius of a circle is half the length of the diameter. The diagram below shows the names of the various parts of a circle.
